More For Less: Here's a huge TV for under $600. If you absolutely need a honkin' screen, this is the best deal you'll find.
Plasma Advantage: Despite the bargain-basement prices, you'll still get a smooth picture from this plasma set. Black levels might not be very deep, and it'll consume much more power than a comparable LCD or LED set, but hey, it's cheap.

Hey Good Lookin': Not only does the local-dimming LED-backlit picture look amazing, but the extra-slim panel will add some sex appeal to your living room too.
Spec-tacular: The LE8500 sports some excellent specs like local-dimming LEDs, great connectivity, and an over-the-top 240Hz refresh rate. Is that last one necessary? Of course not, but the neighbors will sure be jealous.

Samsung is awful (Ed — 08/27/2010)
Just had a 46' samsung go out on me, they are total junk. I will be organizing a class action lawsuit, there are just way to many people out there having problems.

Good luck with the law suit. There are way too many people complaining about the same problem on Samsung TVs. We have a 3 yr old 42" LCD TV that is going through the 'click problem' - it takes longer and longer to turn on each day. Its due to faulty electrolytic capacitors in the power supply unit. As the faulty components degrade over time they lose their capacitance or 'juice' so to speak and that is why the TV has the ever longer start problem. Eventually the components fail completely and the TV just wont come on.

Bought this 17 months ago. $2000.00 + w/ taxes.
Started taking 10 min. to come on about 3 months ago.Repaired at $400.00. Now it won't come on at all. The repairman says it's not worth fixing and that they have had numerous problems with the Samsung brands.Samsung denies any such problems exist.

Another one bite's the dust! (paula forslund — 08/13/2010)
Our Samsung 240hz 46" paid $2600 for it 1.5 years ago plus, insurance $350, installation, etc. Started having problems with the screen not coming on. Had to wait 5-10 minutes with a clicking sound for the tv picture, to finally come on. Then the picture was half-on for 5-10 minutes and then would kind of warm up and then play. After a few days of this, the screen just would not come on at all.
Purchased the tv with a warranty through Best Buys and was told that it was not worth fixing because to replace the screen it would be over $1500. So, we were offered a Phillips??????? How's that for losing your shirt?

Samsung LNT4661FX/Xaa LCD TV (Jack Fouts — 05/18/2010)
Bought it 2 years ago. Left half of screen goes dark itermittently. Waiting on Sumsung authorized repairman to call but expect it to not be cost effective to fix. Won't go the Samsung route on the replacement. Won't admit to any defects. @ years for a $1800 TV is unacceptable for me.
