The key to keeping the cost down on this HDTV is in the HD resolution. The 42HL67 has a resolution of 720p, meaning there are 720 vertical lines of pixels comprising the image you see on the screen. The alternative, 1080p does provide more pixels, and thus, more detail, but at the present time, the benefits do not justify the costs. 1080p isn't crucial unless you get an HDTV over 50-inches, or if you want to make the most of an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray Disc player. So, save some cash and enjoy the high-definition spectacle of a 720p set.
The 42HL67 is a remarkable deal, and with a price this good, it may not last long.
