Sony calls this TV the "entry point" into their high-end serious of 120Hz televisions, but don't let that fool you. This TV is no slouch. It's a large, 52-inch LCD jam packed with the latest, greatest HDTV technology. Do you really need any of this stuff to enjoy HDTV? Not particularly. Will it make watching HDTV better? Perhaps, if you're the kind of person who needs to have the very top-of-the-line specifications in order to feel like they're getting their money's worth.
The marquee feature on the KDL-52W4100 is the 120Hz refresh rate, which can handle both television and film video without needing to do any extra processing. This means unparalleled smoothness and clarity. Again, much of this is in the eye of the beholder, but videohpiles swear by this specification. Whether the slight improvement in quality is worth the extra cash is up to you.
