Editors' Comments

While Panasonic has the big-screen size brackets all to themselves, it's Sharp that dominates the mid-range sets with their brilliant AQUOS line. This 37" LCD is a pretty tremendous deal, giving you the best value for screen size that we can find at just around $1,000. There's more to this set than just the size of its screen. Specifications

  • 37" LCD Flat Panel TV: LCD is better than plasma at this size
  • HDTV with over-the-air HD tuner, and digital cable "QAM" tuner
  • 720p/1080i: all the resolution you need, as far as we can tell. We looked at the more expensive 1080p models side by side at numerous manufacturer demonstrations, and just couldn't see a difference. Save your money.
  • Two 10 watt speakers: this is a minor issue we have with this model; fine if you have a separate surround sound system, or if you don't have a huge room.
  • Included Pedestal base can be removed for wall mounting.
  • 2 HDMI connections, and a bunch of others: This means you'll be able to connect the TV easily to whatever components you have, whether a digital cable box, a DVD player or a gaming console ... or all three and more.
