The remote must be very user friendly for my ailing mother who is bedridden. Does this pass the test?

Most HDTV remotes are pretty complicated and full of features you probably won't want to use. You might want to pick up a simple Universal Remote that will work with this TV instead of using the included one.

Mike is right. You'll want to look for one with large buttons that is easy to use and carry. Most of the buttons are confusing at best and some she'll never really use.
