Philips continues to make an impression on HDTV consumers with their interesting and innovative designs. Aside from the trend-riding LED-backlit and high refresh-rate models offered by most top-end manufacturers, Philips has a few experimental features on some models. They're the first to sell Cinema 21:9 models, with aspect ratios that match that of movie screens. The jury is out on how useful this feature is, but their famous "Ambilight" feature, which displays a color-matched glowing halo around the TV, has turned out to be a useful and intriguing addition to their product line in a market where it can be hard to stand out.
