Panasonic Plasma is Pristine Perfection

When it comes to plasma televisions, nothing can beat Panasonic. They're such a fearsome brand that other tough vets like Sony and Samsung have fled the plasma TV market in terror, leaving it to be dominated by monsters like this Panasonic TH-65PX600U. We love this TV; and though it requires a significant investment, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone with any regrets about this 65" giant.

You Get What You Pay For: Top Notch Television

This 65" model goes for about $7,500, which isn't out of the ordinary for such a feature-packed TV. For that price, you not only get a 5' 4" diagonal screen size that will dwarf small children and young adults, you get the absolute cutting edge of technology: 1080p high-definition resolution that will support superior-quality television well into the future, a 5000:1 contrast ratio for sharper, more defined images, and a remarkably slim 3.9-inch depth, making this a perfect candidate for that empty space above your mantle. Since you're spending a lot of money you don't want to worry about being left in the past, and the TH-65PX600U will serve you well for a very, very long time.

Don't Just Take Our Word For It!

You don't have to trust us; just take a look at some of the glowing reviews that actual owners of the TH-65PX600U (and Panasonic plasmas in general) have posted around the web. If you want a great big-screen television from a brand name that you can trust, this 65" plasma should be at the top of your list.

Specifications

  • 1080p High Definition Plasma TV: This is the highest possible HD resolution available today. Though most HD TV broadcasts are in 1080i, the arguably superior 1080p isn't far around the corner. It's already present in HD-DVD/Blu-Ray players and next-gen game consoles like the PS3 or XBOX 360. You can enjoy 1080i broadcasts knowing that when your favorite TV shows upgrade, you'll be ready for it.
  • 5000:1 Contrast Ratio: The higher the former number, the deeper and darker the black in your TVs picture will be. This TV's contrast ratio is excellent, and will yield exceptionally strong images.
  • Picture-in-Picture: Watch two channels at once by splitting your signal.
  • 3 HDMI Inputs: Throw away those old RCA plugs, HDMI is the surefire way to get the absolute best pictures from your accessories like DVD players and video game systems. Anything less is a waste of your precious TV's abilities. With 3 inputs, you'll have plenty of room to hook up new high-definition toys.
  • Dimensions: 61.2"W x 38.3"H x 5.7"D (without stand)
  • Weight: 174.2 lbs (without stand)

Grade: F
What Does This Grade Mean: F
A is for excellent above-average televisions, typically a newer set that has lots of great buying opportunities and high ratings from users. All of our "top picks" should be considered A+ televisions.
B is given to strong TVs that have some standout features, worthy of a second look.
C means that these TVs are weaker, probably with mediocre owner reviews, and are getting a little too old to be considered.
D & F indicates that this TV is most likely older or out-of-date, and most likely has very few buying opportunities. We suggest you avoid purchasing these sets.
