Where to go for a HDTV Tutorial

I need simple explanations of HDTV, plasma vs. led, 1080p, etc. What's the difference. In terms of long term technology ... which is better?

When I look at HDTVs in Costco, or Best ... they all look good. Is there anything expecially important in making a selection on type (LED, plasma, etc.), brand, etc., other than price and the persuasiveness of the sales personnel?

DHQ has some great articles here that will help demystify HDTV. I recommend you read through them and clear your mind of all the hype and clutter!

But here's the reader's digest condensed version. LCDs cost more than Plasma. However, Plasmas have richer colors. If you have a darked room to watch it, Plasma is a better bet. If your room has ambient light - like a living room - then LCD TVs will work better for you.
