big screen tv for 14x16 bright room

I have a 14x16 bright room that I want at least a 46" big screen tv, but I do not know what kind to get. I don't want to spend more than $2,000.00. I have satelite tv so it will have to be compatible with that and I want to add my VCR/DVD player also. Thanks, Julie

Julie,

I would go for the Panasonic 50" TH-50PX75U. It comes with an light filtering screen that reduces glare, the cost is below $1,300, it should work just fine with your sattelite, and has a variety of input connections. It should work out with what you want to do with it. Good luck.

Thank you for answering my question. I have one more. I was told that the plasma tv's are made up of gases. I clean my screens weekly because I smoke. Will this damage the tv? Thanks, Julie

Julie,

I couldn't find anything on the effects of tobacco smoke on a plasma screen TV, but I did find some information on the proper care and cleaning of the screen. I hope this helps.

For a bright room, the Panasonic TH-PX77U is a much better choice than the PX75U. I have a south facing room and the glare was really noticable on all plasmas--except for the PX77U & PZ77U. The anti-glare coating is by far the closest to the matte screen like the Sony LCD XBR4.
