Can I watch TV on my plasma monitor? And if so, what adapter interfaces with cable TV?

I have an Akai DPD5025M Plasma Monitor

You can watch TV on your monitor (I think the model number is actually PDP5025M)

There should be two connectors on the back of your TV: both coaxial to accept a cable end from your cable tv provider or cable box. If your cable box is not digital (analog), use the connector for analog; if digital use the one for digital.

My monitor doesn't have a cable-type (screw-threaded) connector to accept a cable end. I suspect that this monitor needs an external tuner. Is that right?

Are you certain? When I looked up the TV it indicated it was HDTV ready, which means that it should have a coax connector for digital signals. If not, I am sorry for my mis-information, but if it has an HDMI input or component video inputs, it should be able to display HDTV. I doubt this is simply a monitor for computers, and the naming strongly suggests it's a TV.

You need an external tuner. Your TV is just a monitor and you will need a Cable or Satalite box to be the tuner for it. You can not just plug a coax into it and change channels.
