Amazon lists it a KDS-R70XBR2 70" SXRD 1080p XBR Rear Projection HDTV as being unavailable. It may have been discontinued due to it's price point.

Mitsubishi has a 65" model, and at under $2,000 it's a steal of a deal.

Mitsubishi makes good quality TVs; they are a well-respected brand with a full line of products and a well-established support infrastructure.

Tom is pretty right on. I'm watching my Mitsubishi 60" right now. They make good quality stuff. And for that price, I may have to go get one myself.

Still decieding which big screen to get, lcd too expensive plasma too. so that leaves the DLP looked at the sansung and the Mitsubishi 60, at best buy they looked ok lcd looked much better. James you an tom seem to like the Mitsubishi . so im assuming you did your home work??? comparing it to others. id like the biggest screen i can afford so 65+ is my desired choice, don't want to make a mistake.

I like Mitsu's because of their incredible lifespan. I have a Mitsu 62" big screen from the 90s and it's still going strong. The colors of Mitsu are nice. What you want to focus on are the blacks. They tell the story. Contrast ration will be half the battle, followed by the sharpness. DLP is a good way to go, IMHO.

Well just remember this. TVs on the showroom floor are by default set to look best on the showroom floor. Once you get it home, you'll need to have it adjusted for the ambient lighting where you plan to display it.

I didn't know about the fan noises issue. I'll be revisiting that myself now.

well James i must be a nut case anyway we went and bought the Mitsu 73" the newest model 73733 not the top of the line but second down i was told. paid 2400.oo with a two year warranty, was told the noise from the fan had been fixed , if its a problem i can take it back. hope im happy! did notice some ghosting on fast moving objects but the lcd did it too so no surprise's there. so i wanted the biggest screen i could find seems most of the other company s , have stopped making the dlp . the plazma big screen were too$$$$ for me. thanks you were helpful.
