How do I keep the video controls in "User" mode - they switch to "Vivid" after 5 mins.

I adjust the user controls to my preferred settings and the picture looks as I would expect. After about 5 minutes, the controls automaticallly switch back to "Vivid". The set was purchased as a floor model so I'm wondering if there is a special setting for the show room floor that causes it to behave this way.

I would like to disable this feature since the "Vivid" preset is not a preferred setting for me.

I have also noticed that there is a considerable audio rattle at low frequencies and high volume - is this normal?

Thanks for your help.

Try movie mode instead better for watching. But it seems to me that you're forgetting to hit "enter" to lock in the setting, otherwise it times out back to factory defaults. Check your manual to be sure you're following the proper procedure as I suspect you're missing a step.

Also pick up Digital Video Essentials from Amazon. $17. Has all you need to calibrate your monitor properly.

Usually the floor models have some kind of settings turned on, so that if anyone changes them it automatically reverts in order to view optimally in the store. So say for example some child goes in and plays with the settings, everything goes back to a "default" in a sense. See if you can disable this through the settings; I know of some other TVs that have this feature. Also, the audio rattle at very high and low frequencies isn't exactly normal, but understandable, especially from a TV that's gotten a lot of use out of it. The speakers may not be at the optimal quality they were once at, so it could have trouble doing everything at high and low frequencies.

go to the tools menu it has a store setting or home setting put it on home viewing and that will stop it from going back to vivid
